Here’s What Folks are Saying.

“The apple, walnut and brie flappers are outstanding! The Mrs. ordered the Colossal combo, and the bacon and bread I snuck a bite of were amazing as well. Some of the best ever!” Post on Flavortown USA, Nov 2014

“Not only does their menu push the culinary limits, it executes the classics. Serving up hot and fresh biscuits with eggs, cheese and bacon, as well as veggie frittatas and even some shrimp and grits. It’s very hard to disappoint at Colossal Cafe.” Double Stuffed, Potash twins, Oct 2014

…Colossal Cafe is one of our all-time favorite spots to nab some breakfast sandwiches. We fell for them back before there were two Colossal locations. On weekends (and even some weekdays), the wait for a table in the tiny Minneapolis spot was (and is) incredibly long — the patience of diners is a testament to the quality of the food. Joshua Page, Heavy Table, Apr 2014

“This is an absolutely wonderful cafe! I had the short stack flappers — their signature yeast-style pancakes — with apples, walnuts and brie and LOVED the texture, as well as the taste! Great, pure maple syrup, too! And don’t miss the house-made sausage! Others at our table had the meatloaf sandwich and the spicy turkey sandwich — those were also deemed “uniquely delicious!” We couldn’t leave without taking one of their colossal cinnamon rolls home to our daughter. What a treat!” Diner via Urbanspoon, Oct 2013
“Colossal Cafe (Minneapolis) is a neighborhood spot that the locals love for their amazing breakfasts and pet-friendly seating.” Bring Fido

For a tiny space, it packs a huge punch with regards to the amazing foods they offer. They are called Colossal for a reason as they really don’t skimp out on the portions or ingredients. A good start is the Apple, Walnuts and Brie pancakes but don’t leave without the Meatloaf Sandwich! Diners Drive-ins and Dives, Oct 2014

Colossal Café’s locally sourced, made-from-scratch breakfast sandwiches will not only satisfy your hunger, but are an affordable option you can feel good about eating. CBS Minnesota, Apr 2014
Don’t let the small 500-square-foot space fool you: they’re not skimping on ingredients at the Colossal Cafe. Try their Apple, Walnuts and Brie (flappers), or go with their best-selling meatloaf sandwich topped with citrus-infused cranberry compote and served on fresh bread that is baked daily. Food Network, 2013
“5 out of 5 stars … Absolutely delicious! They offer all sandwiches on really tasty gluten free bread. The chicken breast sandwich was great! Find Me Gluten-Free, July 2013
So many delicious menu items, one visit isn’t enough.” TC Daily Planet, June 2013
Thinking big comes naturally to the Colossal Cafe … The Tinuccis’ motto, “American scratch cooking,” isn’t a shallow marketing ploy; it’s a business-as-usual credo, from baker Jason Ermer’s well-made breads to chef Andy Lilja’s vibrant, frequently imaginative cooking. Rick Nelson, Star Tribune, Jan 2013
The flappers are absolutely heavenly. Colossal Cafe uses a yeast-based recipe for their pancakes and it gives them a delicate chewiness and a more bread-like flavor than your standard pancake. Combine that with brie, chunks of apple and walnut, and a brown sugar/honey combo drizzled all over it and you’ve got pancake nirvana. Minneapolites, Dec 2012
